Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they perform a Swedish massage on other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly. A hot stone massage, however, takes a lot of skill and sensitivity on the part of the therapist. The benefits of hot stone massage include:

  • Improved circulation
  • Increased lymphatic drainage (toxin removal)
  • Improved blood flow to tissues
  • Reduces muscular tension
  • Relieves aches and pains
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Produces a deep relaxation

  • The deep relaxation and increased blood flow to the areas being worked not only accelerates any healing processes but also creates a state of deep mental relaxation.

    Reflexology

    What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that aims to encourage the body to relax and work naturally to restore its own balance. Reflexology is based on the belief that all parts of the body are reflected in the feet and hands and by applying gentle pressure to these areas, it is hoped to have an effect on the corresponding part of the body and thus restore balance.

    How does Reflexology work?

Reflexologists believe that areas on the foot act as small ‘mirrors’ of the body’s various organs and systems. By using pressure techniques minute granular areas can sometimes be felt in the foot. It is thought that these occur in the part of the foot that corresponds to the part of the body that is out of balance. The Reflexologist’s pressure and massage techniques are focused on breaking down these granular areas.
